Sixteen participants in the 2014 SWEAT Workshop gathered to discuss and respond to bully culture. They asked themselves questions such as “how did the choice between kindness, compassion and intelligence, or their antithesis, become so complex?” Designers identified specific moments in their own lives that exemplified bullying; those simple acts of cruelty which emerge as individuals jockey and vie for positions of power or relevance in social constructs. The work reveals the duality to help and harm— to welcome a friend and to snicker at an enemy, and to reverse those roles the next day. The following visual experiments range from responses of empathy to admissions of duplicity towards those with whom we are trusted to share basic precepts: friendship, humanity, dignity and decency.

Projects

  • Blue Sky Project

    June 2010

Blue Sky Project invites professional artists from around the world and Dayton-area teens to create new works of contemporary art. This eight-week Artist-in-Residence Program hosts artists who have a demonstrated commitment to innovation and exploration and are interested in collaborating with fellow artists and young people as a means of creating new works. In support of artistic experimentation and collaboration, we organize small groups of local teens eager to work with a professional artist, provide fees and materials to artists, and employ our facilities and staff to address the creative needs of our Blue Sky Project teams. – See more at:

    Gorman Heritage Farm

    November 2015

As part of our annual week of giving (#lpkgivesback), the LPK Design Blitz is a 24-hour design endeavor where our creatives work around the clock, donating more than 600 hours of services to three Greater Cincinnati non-profits. For Gorman Heritage Farm, our creative challenge was to capture the breadth of the farm’s educational offerings and services into a concise and deliberate brand story. In addition, we designed a new logo, built a new website and streamlined their print collateral through a flexible and customizable system that will allow Gorman Heritage Farm to stay true to their eco-friendly message and philosophy.
