    March 2016 – September 2016

    Hospitals use “coding” operations for greater accuracy, efficient workflow and increased productivity. I joined the United Health Care User Experience group to assess and improve the medical coders’ experience in this very complex hospital billing product. The project encompassed more than just designing the product, but rather the ongoing task of socializing user advocacy principles and design best practices with the product and development teams. Our product objectives were the following: – Increase productivity and usefulness by reducing the amount of time it takes for staff to close and bill. – Improve clinical documentation for an improved audit trail. – Build in more accuracy and accountability into the workflow. While on this project, I was invited to join agile development training, learning new tricks and applications of scrum and agile methodology. I practiced them with a very talented group of people. Our big win was our UX presence and integration within a huge multi-discipline enterprise. This success eventually resulted in converting the legacy desktop application into a web-based service with UX Agile methods included every step of the way. I lead and built all UX design within the enterprise process.
