    1. Data Quality Team Problem-Users if face errors in the Mint account if they do not update bank account credentials and do not know what the problem is. Solution-The team was looking to come up with a user interactive approach to help guide users about the kind of error they are running into an guiding them towards the solution. My contribution-I as the sole front end engineer on the team, designed and implemented a feature for the product which eased the error resolution steps for the user and helped them resolve their errors in a better way thus improving the data metrics for the product. The feature led to a drop in the error rate by a margin of almost 20-25% and satisfied tweets from customers saying how much they loved it. 2. Mint Marketing Team Problem-Wide range of people who use the product.Different age groups might find different designs and features interesting and appealing to them. How to tap all these people and make sure that they see what they want to? My contribution-The team wanted to launch tests for the homepage seeing what kind of design is appealing to which kind of a customer. So built these pages using Bootstrap3,media queries and making these pages responsive. 3. Innovation Jams Resistance of users to signup for the product without having got a feel of used it.I,with the help of a colleague built a new home page which helped users estimate their budgets, goals and get a feel of how to use the product and increase their willingness to trust and sign up for us. Problem-The user base is always viewed as Web users and Mobile users. But,there also lies a section of users who open the product website on devices like iPads, phones which may not be a good user experience so proposed a way of making the Web Team pages responsive. My contribution-I,using Media Queries and presented it in front of the the leaders at Mint a few existing pages by making them responsive in a span of 2 days. The idea was later used by me in one of the Mint Marketing home pages.

  • Contractor Companion – Code Chella

    March 2014

As a part of a 5-day competition for Intuit Co-ops called Code Chella- we were given a problem- Solving for 1099 contractors (an app for them to keep track of their expenses and ease the process of Tax filing) and had to come up with a solution like an app or a prototype within 3 days. Solution: Came up with a prototype in a span of 4 days for contractors to record their expenses, estimate taxes. App name- Contractor Companion by talking to real life customers. About Contractor Companion:- It helps contractors who need to estimate and set aside taxes on their own to record expenses, estimate tax liabilities, help raise alerts for wrong expense category classifications. Help them estimate their tax liabilities and make it as easy as a W-2 employee for them. Was highly appreciated by all the panel members as a innovative solution and is currently in the process of getting patented. My personal contribution to the team included: 1. Interviewing real customers to gather requirements 2. Coming up with a summary of the requirements to define the problem statement 3. Helped in creating a rough prototype of the product. 4. Helped build web pages for the same My key learnings: 1. Customer empathy 2. We build products for the customer and ONLY the customer 3. Assumptions can be misleading, have to follow the customer’s feedback and not personal instinct while building anything 4. Team work is more effective than just personal skills
