Just when we were all amazed by 4G, the world is about to witness the 5G revolution. How much more speed and reliability will our smartphones and devices attain? The answer to that question lies in the hands of wireless communications and embedded software engineers, such as myself. I am lucky enough to work at the forefront of this exciting technology delivering tomorrow’s solutions for some of the world’s leading providers. I help companies excel at launching the amazing phones and data modems that you’ve grown to rely on and take for granted. My key areas of specialism include: · Contributing throughout the full development life cycle of each project including capturing 3GPP spec requirements, design and integration in addition to IOT support and commercialization. · Developing and optimising multi-threaded, multi-core software size, speed, and power consumption functions with a sound understanding of software engineering practises applied to DSP (Digital Signal Processing) and RF interfaces and wireless communications protocols. · Bringing up LTE inter-RAT (GSM) functionality on new platforms while contributing to LTE to NR (5G) design and implementation discussions. · Integrating, bringing up and testing GSM inter-RAT (LTE and TDSCDMA) functionality. · Developing, integrating and supporting EGPRS, Dual transfer mode (including EDTM), Multi-slot class 12, higher multi-slot classes, Packet Switched handover, multi-SIM, Receiver Diversity and Antenna Switching projects. · Specialising in embedded low level C development on UNIX and Windows with 17 years of experience in writing code for resource-constrained targets and utilizing RTOS (Real Time Operating Systems).
