    Member of the Embedded Applications SW group, where day-to-day responsibilities include maintenance, management and coordination of test activities in the EMALS Shipset Controls Laboratory. I am one of three subject matter experts (SME) for the Shipset Controls Lab and is responsible with supporting multiple functional groups within General Atomics, while also providing on-demand EMALS support (remote and field) to the customer (NAVAIR). I custom developed and maintain a SW test-suite (UI and backend) written in C#/.NET, while in some cases utilized Allen-Bradley PLCs for equipment that underwent destructive testing as part of required MIL-STD 901D testing. The test SW was extended to support multiple configurations based on user selection upon startup. Extended-duration field support was provided for these destructive tests both as an EMALS SME and test tool developer. I’ve also assited in developing and updating training material for Naval personnel training, for which I’ve alsr been chosen as technical SME to support during hands-on training sessions in the SCL. I routinely support the communications and marketing department by conducting or assisting in high-level EMALS demonstrations in the EMALS Shipset Controls Lab. The target audience for these demonstrations have ranged from large group of interns (~30), technical experts from across the industry, high ranking officials from the Department of the Navy (Captains, Admirals, assistant of the navy delegations) up to U.S Senators/Congress representatives. Field experience has also included multiple trips to Newport News Shipyard in Virginia wherr activities ranged from performing initial SW loads, system checkout, commissioning up to witnessing and supporting aircraft launches on-board USS Ford (CVN78) during an at-sea testing period.

    Performed integration, testing, and debugging tasks; under the supervision of the EMALS software team, on the 4-catapult Shipset Controls Laboratory for the next generation Gerald R. Ford CVN-78 aircraft carrier. Tasks included: automating data analysis and report generation using MATLAB, laboratory support for the SW and test groups, and daily laboratory maintenance. In addition, I supported the EMALS team in improving the SCL robustness by identifying bugs, regularly updating SW, HW debugging, and providing a detailed user’s manual for the SCL.

    Military and Commercial specification qualification testing under supervision from master technician. Performed Highly Accelerated Life Testing (HALT) to military flight recorder. Performed Mil-Spec qualification testing to electrical connectors for space application. Assisted environmental department programming: humidity, altitude and temperature chambers. Gathered data from tests, meticulously inspected data and prepared graphs for visual representation of data. Used LabVIEW for test automation and designed a VI used to interface with a Yokogawa DL750 scope for the purposes of fiber optic testing.

  • Senior Capstone Design Project – Energy Wise Outlet

    December 2013

    Design and build a system that monitors power consumption through the use of controllable wireless smart outlets that educate users on better energy consumption habits. Smart Outlets shall be controlled and data has to be displayed in a responsive web-based application. Project was sponsored by San Diego Gas and electric (SDG&E). Tasks: Served as hardware Project Manager for project. Designed and coded firmware for the wireless smart outlet using C language, ECLIPSE and an MSP430. Assisted in the design of the measurement and control circuitry schematic using Mentor Graphics Design Capture and routed final revision of PCB layout using Expedition PCB. Assisted software team with website design and did some coding in JavaScript and C# to request and display values from OSI-PI database on website.
