It consists of a low-energy sensor that continuously measures heart rate, counts steps, and sends data to a mobile app. + Personally responsible for programming the wearable device. This included configuring the ECG sensor, implementing a peak-detection algorithm to calculate beats per minute, using the device’s accelerometer to count steps, packaging and sending the data to the mobile app using a custom Bluetooth protocol, and enabling disconnected operation by handling memory management on the device’s external flash chip. + Presented poster entitled “Interoperability Framework for Wearable Sensing Devices” at the IEEE MIT Undergraduate Research and Technology Conference in November 2016.
