  • AUVSI Autonomous Airplane Team

    AUVSI SUAS competition is a design and application competition between colleges from all over the world. Students must develop an autonomous aerial system to take off, search a designated area for targets, and land, all without the aid of the ground station. As a team member of AUVSI, one learns to program, design and construct an autonomous vehicle. • Redesigned an existing airframe to mount a stronger engine, increase payload volume, installed a camera gimbal, and upgrade servos for more responsive control surfaces • Created CAD 3D and 2D models using industry standard software, including SolidWorks, AutoCAD and Catia • Utilized various and diverse manufacturing methods, including LaserCAMM, hot wire cutting, vacuum bagging resin molding, and sheet metal working • Competed and presented a formal presentation at the national AUVSI competition in Maryland

  • MAE 3 Robot Design

    A class project where students work in teams to design and manufacture a small robot to transport balls to target locations. Models were created in SolidWorks, and cut using a LaserCamm out of acrylic and delrin. Each team most present a formal report to demonstrate purpose of design.
